Two athletes represented Myanmar in the 2024 Paris Olympics from July 26 to August 11. Women’s badminton athlete Thet Htar Thuzar and male swimming athlete Phone Pyae Han. The 2024 Paris Olympics marks Myanmar’s nineteenth time in the summer games since 1948. Myanmar has yet to win an Olympic medal.

Performance At The 2024 Paris Olympic
Thet Htar Thuzar gained her place in the Paris Olympics through the release of the final BWF Road. She participated in the Women’s Single event where she was placed in Group C with Canadian athlete Michelle Li and Japanese athlete Akane Yamaguchi. Her first game was against Michelle Li where she lost two sets in a best of three (16–21, 23–25). Her next game was against Akane Yamaguchi where she again lost two sets in a best of three (12–21, 10–21). Thet Htar Thuzar failed to qualify for the round of 16s as Akane Yamaguchi topped the groups.
Biography
Thet Htar Thuzar was born in 1999 to both parents, who were badminton players. She first picked up the racket when she was seven years old. She briefly lived in Thailand as her father was a coach there. Before returning back to Myanmar her family in 2010, she won the third price in Thailand at the age of seven. Back in Myanmar, she was selected to represent the Yangon region in the Regions and States Tournament and won the best player award. She then represented the Myanmar national team. She made her professional debut at the age of 11 during the 2011 Sea Games. She has also competed in all the Sea Games since. During the 2023 Sea Games, she and her group (Arkar Phone Myat, Aung Myo Htoo, Hein Htut, Twal Tar Oo, Zaw Lin Htoo, and Zun Myo Thet) got third place in a mixed-team badminton competition.
Thet Htar Thuzar represented Myanmar twice in the Olympic games. Once in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and another time in the 2024 Paris Olympics. She has yet to win an Olympic medal.

Phone Pyae Han

Performance At The 2024 Paris Olympics
Phone Pyae Han participated in the “Men’s 100m freestyle.” He placed 73 with a time of 55.56 seconds. He did not qualify for the next stage. Phone Pyae Han was also the flag bearer for Myanmar in the games.
Biography
Phone Pyae Han was born on October 9, 2008, and is a swimmer from Myanmar. He received his education at the GESS International School in Singapore.
